Blu Saphir

Ella Sopp

Ella Sopp started her singing/songwriting career in 2007 and has since written and sung on dance tracks ranging from deep dubstep with 2 Kilo Mockingbird, house with Billy Kenny, breaks with Hyper-On Experience and of course drum and bass with EZ Rollers and many more.

Her unique & soulful style lends itself well to bass-driven, deep electronic music and draws inspiration from soul singers like Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and Angie Stone.

Originally, she started experimenting with drum and bass as the band 2 Kilo Mockingbird with Billy Pleasant, and it wasn't long before they started making early dubstep and playing live at festivals and raves throughout London & Europe. 2Kilo released 'Pair a Dice' on Binary Feedback with remixes from Cosmology and Maztek. This fuelled her desire to explore other avenues of electronic music and she started working with a variety of artists outside of the band.

While many genres catch her ear, there has always been an ongoing need to make good drum and bass, even while other projects are going on. This is evident when taking into account 'Tigermoth' on V recordings, 'Overrule my Sense' with Symptom on DnBA and 'Out of this World' with Voltage on Smokin Riddims, the latter of which topped the Juno charts. Ella has also reached the top of the charts with 'Divine' with Soundblast Stereo on Housepital NL.

More recently Ella Sopp joined Tenchu on Blu Saphir in 2015 for critically acclaimed 'City Lights', paired with For Love Yeh. The tune was supported by LTJ Bukem, Nookie, EZ Rollers & Intelligent Manners.

Currently Ella is the official vocalist for EZ Rollers, is launching a new band called Sesame Beats (with Alex Banks of EZ Rollers/Hyper-on Experience) and has a multitude of releases forthcoming in 2016 with many other artists across the musical spectrum including a release on Hospital Records.
